Reynosa, Tam., 14 June 2016.- During this year’s first quarter, Tamaulipas was placed as the number one exporting entity in the country, said the President of INDEX Mexico, Serrano Federico Bañuelos.
According to El Economista newspaper report, Tamaulipas is ranked first in this category, registering exports in the amount of 19 billion dollars, which represents 37% of total manufacturing exports in the country. It totaled 51 thousand 420 million dollars in the first three months of 2016.
Tamaulipas is located in the top five manufacturing enterprises operating in the country, surpassed by other entities: Baja California, Nuevo Leon, Chihuahua and Coahuila.
According to the Mexican IRS (SHCP), Tamaulipas has 353 establishments IMMEX type (Industries Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services) out of 5,008 operating in the country as per last February.
“The IMMEX companies around the country are increasing their production lines, creating new employment opportunities,” Serrano Bañuelos told El Economista.
On employment, the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics (INEGI) reports up to February total jobs generated by IMMEX industries as a little more than 206 thousand in Tamaulipas, of which just under 100,000 belong to Reynosa.
